National Center for Teacher Professional Development Launches 5-credit course for In-Service Teachers

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia  Lia Gigauri and National Center for Teacher Professional Development Director  Giorgi Machabeli opened professional development course for in-service teachers in public school N 52. 

The course will be attended by 6200 teachers who have passed the subject exams this year. More than 1500 in-service teachers have been registered at the course currently. 

The first training cycle is oriented on enhancing professional skills and consists of 2 modules:
  • Inclusive education
  • Modern approaches in teaching and evaluation
The course aims at enhancing teacher professional skills and updating their knowledge on inclusive education as well as equal access opportunities in the studying process, also providing teachers with theoretical knowledge on constructivism principles and effective strategies in teaching process as well as new student evaluation methods.

After the successful completion of the first training cycle, the in-service teachers will be able to register for the nest level training course, oriented on enhancing subject methodology knowledge.

The professional course is carried out within the “Teacher Induction, Professional Development and Career Advancement Scheme”. Course attendance is one of the mandatory requirements for getting the senior teacher status.
