The first creative round of the second national contest of Georgian Children and Youth Choral Groups across the country ended. The competition was held simultaneously in 17 cities of Georgia. The jury included Rusudan Takaishvili, Music Expert-Consultant at the National Center for Teacher Professional Development.
The contest was opened on April 15 and is being carried out throughout the country. The event is organized by Georgian Choral Society, and supported by Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory, E. Mikeladze Central Music School, Tbilisi City Hall, Youth Center of Patriarchate, Folklore State Centre of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, as well as the National Center for Teacher Professional Development.
The contest aims to support and monitor children and youth choral groups, promote academic choral singing, preserve national singing traditions and promote the work of Georgian composers.
From the general education sector, up to 90 choral groups have been registered for the contest.
The final round of the contest will be held in Tbilisi on May 14-15. On May 21, a gala concert will be held at the Conservatoire Grand Hall, where the winners will be awarded.
