At TPDC, the trainings for teachers within the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Instruments
for Implementation of the Framework of Competences For Democratic Culture" are in progress.
The trainings aim to introduce the "new model of competences for democratic culture" to teachers, to raise awareness of school practice within the "new model of competences for democratic culture" and to develop school practice based on the "new model of competences for democratic culture".
The key idea of the competences for democratic culture is to bring together all the fundamental principles that are the main pillars in education, human rights and intercultural relationships.
The Council of Europe started to work on the framework of the competences in 2014. The group of experts has developed the current international or local scheme for describing competences and analyzed and subsequently selected several tens of competencies which were later divided into descriptors. With the active involvement of the member states, including Georgia, finally 20 competences have been established.
“Instruments for Implementation of the Framework of Competences For Democratic Culture in School” is another large-scale international project coordinated by Georgia and the states involved are Andorra, Slovakia and Croatia. Bulgaria will join the project later.
