Within the framework of European
Days, the Teacher's House hosted a conference "Teacher-Guide to
Europe" organized by the NATO and EU Information Center and with the
support of the TPDC and Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The Conference was opened by Victor
Dolidze, the State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Ketevan
Tsikhelashvili, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality,
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Estonia and Germany in
Georgia, Felix Het, the Director of Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Georgia,
Ketevan Natriashvili, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia
and Giorgi Machabeli, the Director of the National Center for Teacher
Professional Development.
The aim of the conference
is to provide teachers with the information on the importance and prospects of
Georgia's integration into the European Union, to introduce the opportunities
offered to them by European projects, also, to implement the shared experiences
and acquired knowledge in the teaching process.
The TPDC announced the
registration for participation in the seminar in April. 100 teachers of
geography, history and civic education were shortlisted among the registered
teachers across Georgia. The above mentioned teachers presented interesting
projects for the introduction of EU themes and popularization of European
values at the conference. The conference revealed 10 winner teachers who will take
a training course in Estonia.
The project
"Teacher-Guide to Europe" was developed in 2014 and conducts seminars
and competitions for promoting and introducing European values in the
general education system.
