Within the scope of Teacher and School Director Professional Development
Project which was initiated by “Millennium Challenge Account -
Georgia", the relevant school
subject methodology training modules are being designed. The foreign experts involved in
the project work together
with the Georgian colleagues on
the development of training modules.
Today,
Emily Longnecker, the
expert, presented the geography training module plan to the
project team. Professional development training modules are designed
to enhance the relevant subject teacher knowledge and skills in order to ensure provision of the student-centered teaching process. Special attention is
paid to strategies related to promotion of natural
sciences among students and appropriate use of ICT.
Trainings for
approximately 20 000 Natural sciences, mathematics, English
language, geography teachers will
begin in autumn this year and continue until the end of 2018.
Teacher and School Director
Professional Development Project was launched in 2016 pursuant to the second
140 million Compact signed between the US government Millennium Challenge
Corporation and the Government of Georgia. The project was initiated by the
"Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia" and implemented by the
National Center for Teacher Professional Development qualified team of
education specialists and experts. The technical and expert support for the
Project is provided by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX)
Consulting Group.
“Teacher and School Director
Professional Development Project aims to provide professional development for
VII-XII grade mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography and English
language 20 000 teachers and all public school directors, improve the quality
of the above-mentioned school subjects and promote the creation of
student-centered environment and thus improve students' academic performance.
