National Center for Teacher Professional Development has initiated professional development introductory course for special education teachers in Tbilisi, Gori and Kutaisi. 120 teachers will attend trainings within the 2 month training courses.

The training course consists of 6 interchangeable training-modules and covers child development impairments and pedagogical evaluation of special needs students. Teaching strategies and methods, lesson planning and material adaptation procedures, National Curriculum and difficult behavior management.

The participants will have tests upon the course completion and receive certificates based on test results. In case a training participant doesn’t meet minimal test requirements, she/he will get a statement of course completion.

Almost all the special education teachers will have attended the trainings before the end of the year.
