A two day forum on : Initiatives and Challenges in Digital Teaching- Learning via New Media Tools was initiated by the German Society for International Collaboration (GIZ) and Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The forum was opened by the first Deputy Minister KetevanNatriashvili.

The forum was attended by representatives of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, National Center for Teacher Professional Development, certified trainers at German Society for International Collaboration and specialists of digital teaching.

The participants held presentations on their own programs and digital tools development developing in their organizations, talked about the major issues and participated in discussions.

German Society for International Collaboration (GIZ) has contributed to development of digital teaching tools throughout its 6 years collaboration with Georgia. The general, practical course offered by the organization was attended by the representative of major Georgian universities, various ministries, organizations and vocational institutions. Several pilot projects have been developed.

Since Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia plans to extend the digital learning development to the secondary education, it would be wise to use the human resource trained by the German Society for International Collaboration (GIZ). These people possess the skills for staff training and rich experience in digital tools employment.

The small country like Georgia, facing such major challenges, would require enhancement of teacher competencies and mobilization of all existing resources to successfully meet the existing challenges.
