National Center for Teacher Professional Development has launched a three-level sign language training course. The training is designed for
· Hearing impaired persons and children (those who have relationship with deaf people);
· Parents / guardians or other close relatives;
· Hearing impaired students and vocational students.
Upon completion of the first level, the course participants will be able to communicate using the sign language at elementary (household) level and will have the chance to continue the second and third level study of the sign language.
Each level involves 60 contact hours. Overall, all three levels comprise of 180 contact hours. Courses are held three times a week, 3 hours per day.
People wishing to take the course shall indicate in the application their relationship to hearing impaired person (parent, guardian, family member, course mate, classmate, etc.) and also specify the age of hearing impaired child and whether he/she uses the sign language. Also, please send the report prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science multidisciplinary team or a medical certificate stating that the person you work with, or a member of your family, is hearing impaired.
