The National Center for Teacher
Professional Development hosted three-day training within the framework of
the joint project of the European Union and Council of Europe "Instruments
for Implementation of the Framework of Competences For Democratic Culture"." The event was attended by public and
private school teachers.
The aim of the training was to introduce the
"new model of competences for democratic culture", understand the school
practice within the "new model of competences for democratic culture" and develop the
school practice based on the "new model of competences for democratic culture."
The
core idea of the competences for democratic culture is to bring
together all the basic principles that are the main pillars in education, human
rights and intercultural relationships.
The Council
of Europe started to work on the framework of the competences in 2014. The group of experts has developed the current international or local scheme for
describing competences, analyzed and distinguished several tens of competences that have
been subsequently divided into descriptors. With the active involvement of the member states, including Georgia, finally
20 competences were established.
The Tools
for Introduction of Competences for Democratic Culture in schools is another
large international project coordinated by Georgia and the states involved
are Andorra, Slovakia and Croatia. Later, Bulgaria will join the project.
