Memorandum signed between universities, National Center for Teacher Professional Development and Georgian Primary Education Project to facilitate preparation of qualified teachers

National Center for Teacher Professional Development has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgian Primary Education Project and the higher education institutions.

The purpose of the memorandum is to promote the co-operation and concerted activity between the G-PriED, National Center for Teacher Professional Development and higher education institutions of Georgia in order to identify and explore the cooperation opportunities, to facilitate the preparation of qualified and professional teachers and to attract the potential staff.

Under the memorandum, the G-PriEd and TPDC will provide the universities with the following assistance:

· Discuss existing curriculum and syllabi together with representatives of relevant faculties of universities and quality assurance departments and submit comments in the form of recommendations in connection with the changes by taking into account the G-PriEd methodology and resources;

· G-PriEd and Teacher Professional Development Center will systematically consult representatives of faculties and education program managers;

· National Center for Teacher Professional Development and the G-PriEd will help universities develop training course and education program syllabi;

· Faculty representatives and students will be given access to www.kargiskola.ge , the G-PriEd portal including the electronic trainings and electronic classroom evaluation.

· Faculty representatives will be provided with the printed resources of the Georgian Primary Education Project;

· National Center for Teacher Professional Development and the Georgian Primary Education Project (G-PriEd) will monitor the training program and the course progress through direct observation, and based on the information obtained from the monitoring, develop recommendations and submit them to the parties involved.
