National Center for Teacher Professional Development has signed the memorandum of cooperation with the Union of the Deaf. The event was attended by the representatives of the Deaf Community, Ministry of Education and Sciences and non-governmental organizations.
The aim of the memorandum is provide deaf persons with quality education, employment and promote their full integration in social life, as well as develop and teach sign language to deaf people and any other hearing people engaged in communication with the deaf.
Within the scope of the Memorandum, the parties will ensure the development and execution of any training modules required for the sign language teaching.
At the ceremony dedicated to signing of the Memorandum, the Center trainers gave presentations on the activities performed by the Center for promoting the Sign Language Teaching. In 2015, with the financial and methodological support of the Norwegian grant "Introduction of Inclusive Education to the vocational education and training system", the Center employed people having sign language skills, including deaf trainers and developed the sign language training courses. The courses were attended and learned the sign language by the deaf and representatives of the deaf social environment, teachers, parents, other family members, friends and classmates. The Center has also trained the sign language interpreters.
At the signing ceremony, the NGO "Child, Family, Society" handed over to the Center the literacy learning materials for hearing and vision impaired children.
