The State
Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality met with teachers providing
study into state language in the regions of Kvemo Kartli and
Samtskhe-Javakheti.
Mr. Paata
Zakareishvili participated into the meeting, in which the teachers and program
coordinators summarized the outcomes of the state language programs -
"Teach Georgian as a Second Language" and "Georgian for Future
Success".
"We have
met people, who are driving Georgia towards Europe. These teachers support the
integration of ethnic minority youth and their formation as all-inclusive
citizens of Georgia. Therefore, it is a great honor for me to participate into
this meeting and support these teachers, to listen to their problems and
success stories," - Mr. Paata Zakareishvili declared.
Ms. Shorena
Khukhua, participant of the program "Teach Georgian as a Second
Language" - a teacher of Azerbaijani Public School in village Sadakhlo,
emphasized the importance of these programs for the integration process of
ethnic minority representatives.
"Our
program runs into Azerbaijani and Armenian Public Schools. Aside from providing
academic study into state language, we are working into several directions - we
launch camps, school partnership programs, elaborate fiction translation and
work with the whole community. Besides studying the state language, it is
immensely important for these children to realize that Georgia is their
homeland and they have to be involved into Georgian statehood. As for the
existed challenges, we hope that the state agencies will do their best to solve
these problems," - Ms. Shorena Khukhua declared.
The teachers
involved into the programs "Teach Georgian as a Second Language" and
"Georgian for Future Success" and various representatives from the
Ministry of Education and Science, Public Defender’s Office and NGOs took part
into the meeting.
